brief information in English on a chain letter about 14-month-old baby girl
A chain letter is circulated about a 14-month-old child from Poland who suffered a severe burn.
Basically, the story is true. A girl whose name is Ola (a diminutive form of Aleksandra) Kuczma experienced a severe burn during a fire in her parents' house in a village near Sanok (south-eastern Poland). The tragic accident happened in June 2005 [1].
Ola had to (and will have to) undergo serious (and expensive) medical treatment. The girl's parents asked public for help. Their bank account number is (as given at Polish Television website):
Fundacja im. Janusza Korczaka Bank Spó³dzielczy Biecz 31 86 27 10 11 20 01 00 00 44 28 00 01
The accident has been widely reported in the Polish media, see the following WWW pages (in Polish):
Unfortunately, some versions of the chain letter contain — instead of bank account numbers and other useful details — false information that 3 grosz (about 1 US cent) or 3 cents will be paid for each e-mail sent. This is a hoax — such payment schema is technically unfeasible.

[1] In the previous version of this text I wrote "August 2005", which was incorrect.
